It takes a certain type of enquiring mind to be a good fit with the work we do here at Space Doctors. We consist of Academics, industry trained Semioticians and people who have worked with brands and marketing, as well as people who are simply very good at what they do.

Mariah joined Space Doctors in Dec 2008 after completing her MBA at Oxford University’s Said Business School.  Her fascination of various cultures, cultural studies, and businesses that have a social purpose led Mariah to focus on Marketing for Cultures and Society’s as well as Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford.   Outside of the course work this entailed she was also able to spend the summer with 3 classmates working for a private-public partnership in the Gambia that is helping small-scale farmers tap into new markets through tourism.

Prior to Space Doctors Mariah spent 10 years as a marketer for Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies.  Just before leaving to get her MBA, she was Associate Director of Marketing at Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics in the Bay Area of California.  In this role she was responsible for product development, product launch and management, customer insight development, product and company brand strategy, as well as long term strategic planning.  Her natural comfort with the customers led her out to the field very often on sales visits to gain new business and to run workshops with sales representatives and customers.

At Space Doctors Mariah helps take the semiotic analysis and apply it to marketing and brand strategies for clients, allowing them to better utilize the insight gained.  Mariah has found this increasingly exciting and rewarding to work across such a breadth of industries and marketing issues.  While she is always keen to tackle projects in Health Care, new work in personal care, food & beverage, travel, and home care has been very enlightening.

When not at work Mariah enjoys travelling, reading, staying involved with Oxford alumni and keeping fit through running and triathlons.  Recently she has been trying to strike a balance between travelling to far off places and seeing more of the UK, finding wonder and joy in both.
