Space Doctors is dedicated to supporting new cultural and semiotic insight talent and we are proud to announce Space Doctors sponsorship of the Semionaut Essay Award 2013, with a winner’s prize of 1,000 USD.

Semionaut is an online magazine & knowledge resource offering insight into culture, media, creative industries and brand strategy and our involvement with the Semionaut Essay Award will complement our ongoing graduate and postgraduate course training and the Space Doctors Graduate Development Programme.

The competition is open to all current undergraduate and recently graduated (1-2 years) students world-wide. Entrants will submit a short essay (1500 words maximum) focused on culture, communications, semiotics and the relationship of these areas to branding.

The winner will be chosen on the basis of quality of insight, analysis and creative flair. The judges will be looking for accessibility of the analysis and writing, with potential appeal to a non-academic readership and work which embodies the usefulness of this type of analysis in brand strategy, brand communication, public policy, or advancing a cause.

The entries will be judged by a panel comprising representatives from Semionaut editorial, Space Doctors and international semiotics academic.

All candidates shortlisted will, like the winner, have their work published by Semionaut and receive detailed feedback from experienced analysts on the content and commercial applicability of their work.

The deadline for entries is November 30, 2013.
